On April 10, 2012, Temple law school signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nankai University law school for student and faculty exchange. Temple had previously signed a university-level agreement with Nankai for a large range of collaboration with student exchange and dual degree programs. The purpose of this MOU is to strengthen the cooperation between the two law schools and also enhance the Tianjin-Philadelphia sister city relationship.

Representing Nankai law school were Dean Zuo Haicong and Associate Dean Sun Yujing, and from Temple law were Director of Asian Programs John Smagula with Professor Burton Caine.
