Dear Graduates and Friends,

Some of you may have heard that Peter Liacouras suffered a serious stroke in November.
I visited him recently, and although he remains paralyzed on one side and unable to
speak, he is alert, animated and still has that classic Peter smile. Until recently, Peter has been
teaching a seminar on International Law for the law school and has also been
teaching undergraduate courses in political science. Annually, Peter attends our student
scholarship event to present the scholarship from the fund he established in honor of his parents,
The James and Stella Liacouras Scholarship.

I know that you join me in thinking of Peter and his family during this difficult time and
hoping for his best recovery. If you want to send a message to Peter, we have set up a web site

address. His family has asked that gifts in honor of Peter Liacouras be directed to the James and
