Public Interest Experience

Temple’s longstanding pro bono program, Public Interest Experience (PIE), provides all students with the chance to participate in pro bono work through academic year internships at public interest agencies around the area. Students volunteer their time at SeniorLAW Center , Community Legal Services, the Montgomery County Public Defender, the Mazzoni Center Legal Department and many others. Placing students directly within these agencies introduces students to Philadelphia’s vibrant legal services community while supporting the important work of the agencies. Each fall, Temple welcomes representatives from area public interest and government agencies to our annual Public Interest Experience (PIE) Fair. The fair provides students with an opportunity to talk informally to practicing attorneys about their work and possible volunteer opportunities.
