Student groups

I was a staff editor on the Temple Law Review as a 2L and Editor-in-Chief as a 3L. Being on the Law Review has pushed me to develop as a teammate, writer, and reader. Through the Law Review, I have had the unique opportunity to work closely with a team of extremely dedicated people on something that is much larger than any one of us. I have learned so much from my peers about collaboration and problem solving, and made friendships that I hope will last my lifetime. I have also learned a few things about the Bluebook and the Chicago Manual of Style!

Volunteer and service experiences

I volunteered through the School Discipline Advocacy Service (SDAS) all three years of law school. SDAS is a critical organization that provides advocacy services to public school students in Philadelphia who are facing disciplinary measures (namely, transfers and expulsions). SDAS is the only organization doing this type of work in Philadelphia. My work with SDAS allowed me to continue working with young people in the Philadelphia school system, but also with their parents and other law students who are passionate about students’ rights.

Favorite faculty member

It is only thanks to Professor Kristen Murray that I learned to write like a law student and not a former English major. Professor Murray’s Legal Research and Writing class taught me the skills I needed to be a successful communicator in law school and in my legal career. I also took her Education Law class as a 3L and enjoyed discussing important issues and building on the writing skills she taught me as a 1L. Professor Murray is a fantastic professor and role model and I’ve loved every minute of being her student. Professor Dave Hoffman was a constant source of advice and support starting my first semester of law school in his Contracts class. Professor Hoffman pushed me to work the hardest I’ve ever worked as a student and to open my mind to topics (like Contracts and Corporations) that I never thought I would be interested in before law school. Professor Hoffman instilled in me a love of learning about the law. His passion for teaching really struck a chord when I was his student and research assistant, for which I will be forever grateful.

Carrying Temple forward

I will carry with me a commitment to community. What I love most about Temple Law is the wonderful community of students, faculty members, and administrators. The faculty and administration have been so supportive over the last three years, taking a sincere interest in me as a student and a person. I have been fortunate to go to school in an environment where people are kind and generous, and I would like to carry that with me as I develop as a young lawyer.
