  • October 24th: Resume & Cover Letter Workshop
  • October 29th: Philadelphia Diversity Legal Group Information Session (PDLG)
  • October 30th & 31st: 10 Days to Resume

November

Important Dates
  • November 1st – 12th: 10 Days to Resume continues
This month you should also do the following
  • Make an appointment to come in and meet with an OCP Career Counselor
  • Review Temple’s weekly calendar for lunchtime programs in your areas of interest

December

Important Dates
  • December 1st: Begin applying for summer internships in federal judicial offices and agencies, and other government jobs and PDLG Applications Become Available
This month you should also do the following
  • Register for Public Interest/Public Service (PIPS) Job Fair

January

This month you should do the following
  • Sign up for Spring On-Campus Interviews
  • Continue applying to federal judges and government agencies
  • Begin applying for internships with state court judges, District Attorneys’ offices, United States Attorney’s Offices, public interest law organizations
  • Participate in Mock Interviews
  • PDLG Applications Due – look out for e-mails regarding the submission deadline

February

Important Dates
  • February 11th: Spring OCI Begins
This month you should also do the following:
  • Meet with your professors regarding first semester grades
  • Attend PIPS Job Fair
  • Check CPM for summer job postings
  • Continue applying for summer internships

March

Important Dates
  • March 25th: Success in Summer
  • March 27th: Fall OCI Training
This month you should also do the following
  • Continue to bid on employers through Spring OCI
  • Check CPM for summer job postings
  • Continue applying for summer internships
  • Reach out to professors regarding Research Assistant opportunities

April

This month you should be aware of the following
  • Spring OCI ends
  • Remember when selecting classes for 2L year, your job next summer may require you to be certified to appear in court (all DA & PD offices and several other government jobs). Therefore, you must take evidence (and earn at least a C) and trial advocacy (See Wise Guide for more info).

May

This month you should do the following
  • Participate in the Law Review & Journal Write-On Competition

July

This month you should be aware of the following
  • Bidding on employers for Fall OCI usually begins in mid-July, so watch for emails from OCP.

Second Year

August

Important Dates
  • August 16th: Mock Interviews
  • August 20th: Fall OCI begins
This month you should also do the following
  • Monitor government agency and department websites because US Dept. of Justice Summer Legal Internship Program (SLIP) and other government internship program applications are available
  • Apply for part-time semester & summer internships that are posted on the CPM

  • September: Fall OCI continues & call-back interviews begin
  • September 14th: NY Recruitment Day
  • September 21st:GPALS (Greater Philadelphia Area Law Schools) Philadelphia Fair
  • September 28th: GPALS Washington DC Fair
This month you should also do the following
  • Register and bid for Equal Justice Works Fair
  • Be aware of deadlines for several federal govt. internships
  • Continue to apply to jobs posted on the CPM
  • Attend the PIE fair

October

This month you should do the following
  • Attend the Equal Justice Works Conference & Career Fair (check your e-mail for date and time information)
  • Check CPM for job postings
  • Network
  • Consider joining a bar association and practice area section of interest
  • Schedule an appointment with OCP to discuss job search strategies

November

This month you should do the following
  • Check CPM for job postings
  • Continue to network
  • Consider a part-time job if possible

December

This month you should also do the following
  • Check CPM for job postings
  • Register for Public Interest/Public Service (PIPS) Fair
  • Begin creating lists for targeted mailings

January

This month you should do the following
  • Sign up for Spring On-Campus Interviews (check your e-mail for date and time information)
  • Begin sending targeted mailings to mid to small-sized firms
  • Check CPM for job postings
  • Continue to attend OCP programs

February

This month you should do the following
  • Continue targeted mailings & applying to job postings on CPM
  • Attend Public Interest Monday Program on summer funding for public interest jobs
  • Attend OCP Programs on Judicial Clerkships; Fellowships and various practice areas

March

Important Dates
  • March (all month): Spring OCI Continues
This month you should also do the following
  • Sign up for a clerkship counseling session with Career Counselors
  • Continue targeted mailings & applying to job postings on CPM
  • Attend OCP Programs on various practice areas
  • Attend OCP Program on Success in Summer

April

This month you should do the following
  • Continue targeted mailings and applying to job postings on CPM

May

This month you should do the following
  • Complete our Summer Employment survey
  • Still no summer job yet? Keep checking the CPM for job postings!
  • Summer employment begins

July

This month you should do the following
  • Bid on any OCI employers who are interviewing rising 3Ls
  • Find a public interest law agency to sponsor you for a Fellowship
  • Post-graduation Federal and State clerkship application packets due!

THIRD YEAR

August
