Professor Zhang specializes in conflict of laws, contract law, Chinese law and comparative law. A former Fulbright scholar and faculty member of China University of Political Science & Law, Professor Zhang joined Temple in May 1998 after several years of legal practice in the United States. Professor Zhang is a member of the Maryland and New York Bars.

Professor Zhang has numerous publications in both American and Chinese law journals. His book Chinese Contract Law: Theory and Practice (Brill, 2006) is regarded as a primary book on Chinese contract law. Professor Zhang serves as the Director of Graduate Program for Temple University Law School in China — the first in-country foreign law degree granting program ever approved in China, and he teaches in Philadelphia as well as in Beijing.

Professor Zhang's current research interests include Jurisdiction and Choice of Law, Chinese Law, Comparative Contract Law.
