Experience Prior to Law School
My parents emigrated from South Korea to Philadelphia in the 1980s. They loved it so much they decided to start a family here. So, I was born in Philadelphia and grew up in the Bucks County suburbs. I did my undergraduate work at NYU and graduated in 2009.
I participated in the business law clinical, which was a great experience. The clinical focused on start-up businesses. We provided legal services, such as contract work, lease work, etc. It was interesting to hear about each client’s business ideas and rewarding to help them achieve their goals and dreams.
I participated in VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), a program that provides free tax return services for individuals who make less than a certain income. I decided to participate in this program because I really enjoyed tax law. Not only was it interesting to see the tax code in action, but it felt great assisting people who needed help.
How I Will Use My J.D.
Post graduation I will be working at Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby, a firm in Philadelphia. It is what I had in mind when I came to law school so I am happy about that.
What about Temple Law will you carry with you as you leave to pursue your career?
What I Wish I Knew Before Attending Temple Law
Temple Law School has an amazing study abroad program. I was fortunate enough to participate in the Rome program my 1L summer and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Most 1Ls are so caught up in trying to stay afloat throughout the school year and finding a summer internship that the idea of studying abroad never crosses their mind. I was able to enjoy beautiful Rome and all of its glory and come back in time to complete my judicial internship with a federal district court judge. I really believe the experience abroad was invaluable.
