The legal job market is rapidly internationalizing, with a growing need for legal professionals skilled in areas such as commercial and corporate law, intellectual property law, international commercial arbitration, international human rights law, and global compliance. Most attorneys will encounter international issues even in their domestic practices, including immigration, international sales, and foreign property issues.
Students who study abroad gain firsthand experience in how law is practiced overseas. Studying abroad also teaches students new forms of legal reasoning, increases their intercultural competence, and, where applicable, strengthens their professional foreign language ability.
Temple Law is the only US law school with study abroad programs on our own campuses in Rome and Tokyo, taught by main campus Temple Law faculty and well-recognized local adjuncts who have taught in these programs for many years.
Our Rome and Tokyo programs are also open to other US law school students and international students, and our Rome program is open to students from our international partner schools as well.

Grades earned for a full semester or year’s work at another law school as a visiting student will not be calculated into the student’s GPA at Temple. If you are a J.D. student at a law school other than Temple, please confirm with your home institution if grades earned in our Rome and Tokyo programs will be calculated into your GPA.
Study abroad information sessions will be offered in the Fall and Spring semesters. Details about upcoming information sessions will be posted on the Law School Event Calendar.
If you have additional questions about study abroad, please contact Sabriya McWilliams or schedule a Zoom meeting.
