U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories

Admitted students should read and understand the U.S. Department of State Country Specific Information for Japan. Whenever the Department of State revises or updates this information, Temple Law will make reasonable efforts to distribute this information to applicants, admitted students, or participants as appropriate. U.S. citizens and nationals must also register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to enroll their trip with the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo.

If the Department of State issues a new or heightened Warning or Alert for Japan during the application process, after we admit students or during the program term, we will inform all applicants, admitted students, or participants by email. Temple Law reserves the right to reschedule, alter, or cancel the program for any reason, including in response to these warnings and/or alerts.

  • Radiation, Health and Food Safety Information Post-Fukushima (From the U.S. Embassy Tokyo site)

    “After the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami damaged the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, radiation was released into the environment near the plant. Japanese government officials have taken steps to protect public health, including evacuating the area around the plant and stopping production and distribution of food from affected areas to other parts of Japan and the world. Japan has also implemented a broad program of radiation monitoring, centering on Fukushima Prefecture. Regular monitoring of air, food, and water for radiation continues and additional information on these activities is provided below.”
