The Sheller Center for Social Justice Presents The Green New Deal Decade: From Platform to Policy

March 26, 2021
12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM EDT
Online • Temple University Beasley School of Law

Thanks to the hard work of social movements, organizers, and a diverse range of people committed to a more just and equitable future, the Decade of the Green New Deal has finally arrived. But how will we build policies, laws and institutions that live up to social movements’ demands?

Join us for a conversation with policy experts and elected officials to discuss how we can transform the Green New Deal into federal, state and local policies. Professors Billy Fleming and Akira Drake Rodriguez will discuss their work designing a Green New Deal for Public Housing and a Green New Deal for Public Schools. And Councilmember Helen Gym, Councilmember Kendra Brooks and State Senator Nikil Saval will discuss the politics of winning a Green New Deal for Pennsylvania and Philadelphia.
