Dean Gregory Mandel shared the following message with members of the Temple Law community on Friday, March 19th.
Dear members of the Temple Law School community,
I write today to express my horror and sadness over the escalation of anti-Asian American and Pacific Islander bias in the past year, and in particular the murders earlier this week of eight people in Georgia, including six Asian American women. The harm wrought by such attacks extends far beyond the individual victims and their loved ones, and I extend my deepest empathy to all who have been affected by them.
In his message to the Temple University community, President Englert shared several resources for those affected by these events. In addition to these, Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers is a valuable resource available to law students, faculty, and lawyers at the law school. For those who wish to learn more about this issue or how to support the AAPI community, we are working to create a list of resources that will be shared separately as soon as it is available.
These events are representative of the persistent presence of racial and gender biases in our nation that ultimately affect us all, and will take our united commitment to uproot once and for all. I affirm Temple Law School’s solidarity with the AAPI community, both within our law school and beyond.
