Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack delivered the 2019 Edward Ross Lecture in Litigation. Her remarks, titled The 10 Year Anniversary of the NAS Report: Two Steps Forward or One Step Back?  focused on the potential for forensic science to play in criminal justice reform and the role lawyers will have to play to make that potential real. Dana Trier presented the 2019 Fogel Lecture, titled Entity Taxation in the 2017 Legislation: Process and Policy, on March 21st, 2019. As Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy in the U.S. Treasury, Mr. Trier participated in the production of that legislation. He focused his remarks on the so-called “pass-through deduction” that has dramatically changed the taxation of some personal service income.
