The Law School Office of Academic Records maintains law student and alumni records and provides academic documentation needs, including processing loan deferments, registration verification, and degree and state bar form certifications. Request and information release forms are available outside of Suite 103, Barrack Hall and can be deposited in the locked box across from the door of Suite 103 at any time. Forms can also be provided electronically, if needed.

Requesting a Transcript

Unofficial Transcripts

When employers ask for a transcript to accompany a job or internship application, those transcripts do NOT need to be “official.” If an employer wants an official transcript, they will typically state that the transcript needs to come directly to them in an envelope with the University seal.

To produce your unofficial transcript, go to the Student Tools section of TUPortal. Under “Records,” click on “Academic History.” Click “Submit.” You do not need to change the Transcript Level or Type. Highlight the area beginning with “Student Information” down to the bottom of the page. Copy the selection and paste it into a Word document. Be sure to save your document. It is also good practice to upload it to the Documents section of your CPM (Career Planning Manager) account, so that it is easily accessible when you are applying for jobs and internships.

Official Transcripts

If you have been asked to obtain an official transcript, it is a good idea to make sure the requesting entity truly wants the type of transcript that is in an envelope sealed with the University seal. (Typically, employers just want a document that is more “official looking” than a document that contains the copy and paste from your internal academic history.)

To request an official transcript from the University, go to the Student Tools section of TUPortal. Under “Records,” click on “Transcript Request.” When asked for type of transcript, select Law for J.D. students, or Law Graduate for LL.M. students. Standard processing is 5-10 business days, but some rush delivery options are available. If you select the Paper Transcript option, the official transcript will be mailed to the address you indicate in the order. If you selected the pickup option, you will pick up your transcript from the Office of Academic Records in Barrack 103, not the University registrar. If you have forms or other documentation that must be completed by the Law School, we recommend that you select “pick up” as your transcript delivery option and drop the form(s) off at the Office of Academic Records. Your transcript will be delivered to the Office of Academic Records for you to pick up along with the completed forms.

The current charge for a transcript is $8.75. An additional $2.50 is required for a print transcript. This fee will cover USPS mail, tracking, and same day shipping if ordered before 3:00 PM during normal business hours. Rush-ordered transcripts will be delivered to the Law School for pick up or special mailing.

Official Transcripts

Temple University has authorized Parchment to provide services for ordering official transcripts. Parchment offers convenient online ordering services 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, as well as order tracking and notification.

Alumni and former students may request their transcripts by logging in to the Parchment website. You will be prompted to create an account the first time you access the Parchment site.
